Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) - Why do we need it in our Western World?
Alternative or Complementary Medicine
Although TCM is applied in China as a sole therapy, in our Western world it is rather to be considered as a complementary method. Contentious discussion about the superiority of Eastern or Western medicine does not make much sense. Both systems have their strengths and weaknesses. In fact, we can feel privileged to have more than one system available.
New Perspectives
TCM can open up new perspectives and treatment options.
As a forerunner in complementary medicine, Harvard University established a division of its medical school for
research and education in complementary and integrative medical therapies. Numerous universities in The US,
Germany and other European countries have followed this example and founded departments for TCM.
